Keys to Music is a perfect way to start listening to ABC Classic FM. In Graham's own words he would like to break down the barriers to enjoying music for non-musicians, revealing basic concepts, discussing composers and exploring pieces of music inside-out.

Podcasts: The Music Education Series

In May 2009, Keys To Music presented four programs focusing on the importance of good musical experiences in a child's education. Graham's guest in the series was the eminent Australian conductor and music educator Richard Gill and their conversations generated an enormous response among ABC Classic FM listeners.

1: The Body (22 MB, 30'50") Graham Abbott and Richard Gill discuss the importance of dance and movement in a child's musical experiences, joined by Dr Micheal Giddens, a leading exponent of Dalcroze Eurhythmics.

2: The Voice (17 MB, 24'08") Graham and Richard discuss the importance of singing in a child's life, joined by Kathryn Sadler, one of Melbourne's leading singing teachers and choir directors.

3: Instruments (13 MB, 18'18") Graham and Richard discuss why learning an instrument is good for children, joined by Alastair McKean, Director of Border Music Camp.

4: The Mind (16 MB, 22' 38") Graham and Richard conclude their discussion on the importance of Music Education for children. In this program they focus on the proven benefits of musical experiences for a child's intellectual and social development.
