"The Lyric Voice is a program of readings from literature - poetry, drama, novel and more - set in a context of great music. Shakespeare, Joyce, Yeats, some great Australian writing, as well as music from unexpected corners will all be heard. A great musician and a great actor have in common the creation of a great performance. You'll hear them in The Lyric Voice."

Immortal words from Shakespeare this time, in the shape of Hamlet's memorable soliloquy, perhaps the most famous of all of Shakepseare's great speeches.
William Blake is represented by two tiny poems, The Clod and the Pebble, and London, as well as a major work, Auguries of Innocence.
We also hear one of TS Eliot's best known and most resonant works, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, and Abraham Lincoln's powerful speech which we know as The Gettysburg Address.
Audio usually updates by 11.00pm Tuesday, Sydney/Melbourne time. Windows Media audio requires Windows Media Player vers.9 or later, with a 56k modem or better. Visit the ABC Streaming Media Players page for advice and links to find the software you need.
