| William Kepa is a Torres Strait Islander drummer, bassist, guitarist, sound engineer and producer whose experiences traverse a breadth of both genres and stages. After learning to play the guitar in 1998, William enrolled in the Indigenous music program at TNQ Institute of TAFE in 2000. Since then William's studio recording sessions include collaborations with Seaman Dan, David Hudson and Wilma Reading. As well as performing, William successfully runs musical workshops in remote Cape York communities such as Lockhart River and further up to the Torres Strait Islands. William also has been recording traditional songs and dance, language hymns and contemporary styles with the aim of creating an inventory of Torres Strait Islander music. |
