Same-sex adoption bill clears hurdle
A bill that would allow same-sex couples to adopt in New South Wales has been passed in State Parliament's Lower House.
MPs were allowed a conscience vote on the legislation, and it passed with 46 votes in favour and 44 against.
A further vote is needed on one of those amendments before the bill goes to the Upper House for ratification.
