Move to boost accountant numbers in ACT

Posted July 8, 2005 14:30:00

A new project has been launched in Canberra to address the Territory's shortage of accountants.

Ashley Jackson from CPA Australia says the aim of the $120,000 project is to encourage accountants to stay in the profession longer.

He says retired accountants are also being urged to take on part-time work.

"The project essentially is part research but it's also part practical, in that we want to place around 20 mature-aged accountants with small to medium enterprises in Canberra," he said.
