Darwin dog catcher finds Rusty a long way from home

Posted July 25, 2007 16:19:00

An eight-year-old dog snatched from outside a New South Wales newsagency in May has turned up more than 3,000 kilometres away.

A Darwin City Council dog catcher found the poodle wandering the streets last week, looking somewhat worse for wear.

A microchip scan led the council to the dog's owner in Woy Woy on the New South Wales central coast.

Rusty is biding his time at the Darwin pound, and will be put on a plane to Sydney tonight.
