Adelaide police say a man who was shot through the front door of his house at Aberfoyle Park last night probably knew the offenders.

The 37-year-old man suffered grazes to his chest and head when he was wounded by two shotgun blasts at his house in Ken Road.

Chief Inspector John McCaffery says police are looking for three suspects and a maroon car.

He says it does not appear to have been a random shooting.

"We do interview the witnesses, the victims, we look at the associates and the backgrounds," he said.

"At this stage we are confident that there isn't a public risk, that it's probably within an association or a group of people involved in a business, but this needs to be verified."
