Posted October 18, 2007 07:46:00

A 63-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after being shot in both legs during a home invasion in Sydney's west overnight.

Police say two men forced their way inside a house at Airds about 2:00am (AEST).

They threatened the couple inside before a struggle broke out and the male resident was shot.

Police say the two men then ran from the scene through the neighbour's backyard.

The injured man was taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
