Residents quizzed about community bank

Gundagai and Adelong residents are being urged to complete a survey into the feasibility of setting up a community bank.

Steering committee member Mark Burgess says more than $450,000 was pledged in the first stage of the project and the second stage is a feasibility study including a survey.

He says the survey asks people about what banking they do, and whether they would be prepared to change over to a community bank if one was in Gundagai.

"That's been posted out to over 1,000 [people], we've got a couple of thousand out at the moment," he said.

"It's a fairly tight time frame to get the surveys back to the people who are doing the feasibility study for us in Victoria."

The survey is due back at the end of the month.
