Posthumous award for SES volunteer

Posted November 19, 2007 13:12:00

A man from Gayndah in the central Burnett has been posthumously named Queensland's State Emergency Service (SES) Volunteer of the Year.

The late Don Kenny was recognised at a ceremony in Brisbane yesterday for nearly 20 years of involvement in the SES.

Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts says Mr Kenny last year played a major role in the clean up of storms in the Cooroy and Noosa areas.

Mr Kenny's family accepted the award on his behalf.
