Labor confident of taking Robertson

Posted November 24, 2007 23:03:00

Labor's candidate in Robertson, on the New South Wales Central Coast, says she is confident of winning the seat from the Liberal Party.

The seat has been held by the Local Government Territories and Roads Minister Jim Lloyd since 1996.

The ALP needs a swing of 6.9 per cent to take the seat from Mr Lloyd.

Belinda Neal says has recorded an eight per cent swing and is 2,000 votes ahead, but an emotional Jim Lloyd has told voters it is too close to call.

At least 10,000 postal votes are still to be counted.

The ALP says it is unlikely Mr Lloyd will retain the seat.
