A Gold Coast rugby union club says it will provide support to the family of local businessman David Taylor, who died when he was hit by a truck at Chinderah in northern New South Wales yesterday morning.

Mr Taylor was the managing director of Robina-based construction company DTBS, which has links to the Titans National Rugby League team and the Alleygators Palm Beach Currumbin Rugby Union Club.

Alleygators' president Greg James says club members are in shock.

"Obviously we've got to let things settle down a bit, but we'll make ourselves available to the family for whatever they need from us," he said.
