Man killed in boat mooring accident

Posted December 22, 2007 15:48:00

A 24-year-old man has died after being struck by a falling tree branch in Victoria.

The man was mooring a houseboat at the Eildon Weir near Mansfield, when the branch fell and knocked him unconcious.

Rural Ambulance Victoria spokesman, John Mullen, says the location of the accident made it difficult for paramedics.

"Our paramedics were taken by boat over to the houseboat, to attempt to revive the man, who was unconscious," he said.

"They performed CPR. One of the paramedics from the air ambulance helicopter was also lowered down to the boat, but attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful, and tragically he died on the boat."
