Two die in separate motorcycle crashes

Posted January 14, 2008 15:19:00

A man and a boy have been killed in separate motorcycle crashes on roads close to their homes in the Wide Bay region in south-east Queensland.

An 11-year-old Gayndah boy died in a Brisbane hospital early this morning after his trailbike collided with a utility just after 6:00pm AEST yesterday. Police say he was not wearing a helmet and he suffered serious head injuries.

They say initial investigations suggest he was turning into his home when he was hit by the ute.

A short time later, between Maryborough and Biggenden, a 20-year-old Gigoomgan man died when he crashed his motorcycle into a tree.

Police say he was riding with a friend when he lost control on the gravel road.

Both fatalities are being investigated.
