Alicia Molik is through to the second round of the Australian Open after a tough opening match against Estonian Kaia Kanepi at Melbourne Park on Monday evening.
Molik took almost two hours to win 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
She will meet Nicole Vaidisova in the second round, the 12th-seeded Czech winning her opening encounter against Raluca Olaru 6-3, 6-0.
