Police ready for Rocky floods

Posted January 25, 2008 23:02:00

Extra police have been sent to Rockhampton to cope with expected flooding early next week.

The peak is expected to reach the city by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Inspector Mick Niland says police want to ensure there are enough resources to deal with any situation.

"We have an extra 30 staff from around central Queensland. Also Townsville and Brisbane Metro areas have come to assist," he said.

"We're confident that we have the resources and the capacity to handle the flood if it occurs and at the same time handle general policing matters."
