Flowers in bloom with Roberts

Posted January 28, 2008 23:22:00

Julia Roberts will star in the film adaptation of Margot Berwin's upcoming novel Hothouse Flowers.

The actress also will produce the feature for Sony's Columbia Pictures.

Roberts will play a recently divorced woman who is dissatisfied with her job at a Manhattan ad agency and embarks on an adventure.

The studio bought the rights to the book by Nerve.com writer Berwin. The project, however, has no writer or script because of the almost three-month-old writers' strike.

Roberts stars in Charlie Wilson's War and recently wrapped the indie family drama Fireflies in the Garden. Her next project is Tony Gilroy's thriller Duplicity.
