Posted January 29, 2008 23:41:00

Iraqi police said they found the remains of executed 19 men in the volatile province of Diyala on Tuesday (local time), including 10 heads removed from their bodies.

The gruesome discovery was made near the town of Moqdadiyah, north-east of Baghdad, provincial police official Lieutenant-Colonel Ismael al-Juburi said.

He said that all the victims had been killed in the past few days.

Nine of the victims whose bodies were found intact had been shot dead, according to the head of the hospital morgue in Baquba, Ahmed Fuad.
