Snow scarce at Thredbo so far

Posted June 8, 2008 13:11:00

It has been a slow start to the official snow season with ski fields in New South Wales missing out on decent falls.

Man-made snow at Thredbo has provided enough incentive for beginners and children to hit the slopes but keen skiers have stayed away.

Ski photographer Steve Cuff says there is not much snow at Thredbo but that should improve next month.

"Even [in] late June there probably won't be a huge amount of snow, because at the moment we don't have any," he said.

"We do need to get a bit of a base going.

"Most people don't book holidays for June apart from the long weekend, but generally most people are booking their holidays for July and August where there is more reliable snow."
