Supermarket plan needs Govt approval

A controversial supermarket development for the Nambucca Shire will only go ahead if it wins approval from the State Minister for Planning.
The Nambucca Shire Council last week went against a staff recommendation not to proceed with the Woolworths project.
It decided to seek State Government approval to rezone the preferred site.
The council's director of planning, Greg Meyers, says the move came despite appeals from some businesses not to back the Woolworths development.
"Council resolved to support the rezoning proposal for the Golden Emblem motel site which will accommodate a Woolworths supermarket," he said.
"The process from here is that we finalise the rezoning proposal.
"Subject to that being gazetted by the Minister, the development application will be proceeded with."
