A woman accused of murdering her de facto partner has asked a magistrate to released her on bail so she can look after her children.

A defence lawyer told the Adelaide Magistrates Court that Noreen Jessamine Weetra, 31, of Clare, is a good mother to her seven children - aged between 10 months and 14 years.

Weetra is accused of stabbing her partner, Ross Graham Calyun, 34, last Saturday night.

There will be another hearing on the bail application next week.
