Govt unveils course details

Posted June 30, 2008 16:08:00

The Premier, David Bartlett, has unveiled the course guide for the new education options available to post year 10 students from next year.

Don, Hellyer, Newstead and Hobart Colleges are taking on the Tasmania Tomorrow curriculum which is aimed at providing students with clearer pathways to achieve their career goals.

Mr Bartlett says the new curriculum will improve post-year 10 retention rates and better prepare students for the workforce.

"What's most important about this course guide and the subsequent more detailed course guides that will be released is that Tasmanian young people understand there are fantastic educational options for them post year ten, delivered in a style that suits their abilities, their learning and their lifestyles, Mr Bartlett said.

The course guide will be distributed to all current year 10 and 11 public schools students next week.
