Emerald hosts Ag-Grow Field Days

Posted July 11, 2008 12:35:00

Rural producers from across Queensland have converged on the Central Highlands for the annual Ag-Grow Field Days.

The three-day event is being staged at Emerald.

Agent Ken McCaffrey says the opening day cattle sale has been a success.

"A 94 per cent clearance and an average of $3,195 for the bulls that we sold," he said.

"The average was back on last year, but clearance was high and [there was] no big money.

"The top was $8,500 for the highest price for the day, which was an Angus bull.

"I guess you say a sale in the middle ranges of prices, no big money, and mostly local support I've got to say."
