The Tasmanian government is reviewing the effectiveness of its ground-breaking laws introduced to crack down on family violence.

Tasmania introduced its first discrete family violence legislation in March 2005, naming it the Safe at Home program.

The State Government is now seeking tenders to conduct an independent review of services delivered under the program.

The review will include compliance with the legislation, collaboration between service providers and whether any changes need to be made to legislation and policy.

The review is expected to take 6 months.

The Department's figures show 8,500 cases of family violence have been reported in Tasmania since the laws were enacted.
