Adel Uni bolsters business school

Posted July 24, 2008 13:00:00

Adelaide University has recruited two overseas academics to help lead its new business school.

Professor Dogan Tirtiroglu from Concordia University in Canada is the newly-created Professor of Banking and starts work next week.

Professor Allan Hodgson will move to Adelaide from the University of Amsterdam next year.

Head of the business school, Associate Professor Barry Burgan, says both will help students understand the issues in world financial markets.

"We know the issues facing the banking sector around sub-primes and those sorts of things are of particular interest in these days and ages and a lot of our students end up working in that sector as well," he said.

He says the new school structure will benefit students, allow research to be expanded and help the school interact more effectively with the business community.
