Democrats candidates unveiled

Posted July 25, 2008 17:08:00

The ACT Democrats have announced some of their candidates for the October election.

Greg Tannahill, 28, will run for the seat of Molonglo.

Marilyn Kay Dennis, 61, and Darren Churchill, 43, will stand in the seat of Ginninderra.

The three candidates were endorsed last week and the party says it expects more to be announced.

Mr Churchill, who is the president, says the party is running a good mix of candidates of various ages and with different backgrounds.

"We are the natural party of the crossbenches, the negotiators," he said.

"Four years of majority government in the ACT has been a disaster.

"Labor has been able to rush through any legislation it chooses."

The Democrats will have to contest the election from the ungrouped column because it let its registration lapse in the ACT.
