New Govt agreement aims to reduce adoption barriers

Posted July 27, 2008 18:00:00

A new agreement has been signed which the Federal Government says will make overseas adoptions easier.

Attorney-General Robert McClelland says the agreement between the State, Federal and Territory Governments will reduce bureaucratic barriers to overseas adoption.

He says two working groups have also been set up which will examine adoption laws, fees and assessment processes.

The agreement implements a number of recommendations from a parliamentary report on overseas adoption.
