Tasmania's Health Minister, Lara Giddings says she is not aware of any concerns surrounding local nursing homes.

Two Launceston homes, Tamar Park and Cosgrove Park, will be inspected by the Federal Health Department as part of a nationwide check of homes connected to the Japara Group.

The Federal Minister for Ageing, Justine Elliot, says the inspections are standard procedure and follow allegations of poor care at one of Japara's Victorian homes, Kirralee in east Ballarat.

Ms Giddings says it is an issue for the Commonwealth.

"If the Australian Government believes they need to do a review and investigation of aged care facilities I would welcome that," she said.

"If there are any problems in any system the only thing you can do is go in and review and then try to improve it for everybody involved."

Tamar Park did not comment, while Cosgrove Park says it is fully accredited and the main priority is providing the safest and most up to date care for its residents.
