Police are searching for a man over a series of alleged fraud offences on the New South Wales far south coast.

It is believed the man entered three shops at Merimbula and Batemans Bay last week and bought goods worth nearly $5,000 using cheques that later bounced.

Police want to talk to 36-year-old Donald James Suthern about the incidents.

He is believed to be driving a white four-wheel drive with ACT registration plates YBW-11U.

Mr Suthern is described as being white/Europe in appearance, of medium build with brown hair and blue eyes. He also has a number of animal tattoos on his shoulders.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
