Survey reveals Mudgee housing costs

Posted August 5, 2008 07:15:00

A new survey has found Mudgee is the most expensive town in the region to buy and rent a three bedroom house.

The Housing Affordability Survey has been released ahead of Country Week, which starts on Friday.

It shows the median price of a three bedroom house in Mudgee is about $300,000.

Parkes is the second most expensive place to buy, followed by Oberon, where three bedroom homes have been selling for $240,000.

The cheapest places to buy are Grenfell and Condobolin where three bedroom houses have been selling for about $150,000.

The figures were supplied by real estate agents, and the New South Wales Regional Development Minister, Tony Kelly, says they are encouragement for Sydneysiders to move to the country.

Bathurst and Orange were not included in the survey.
