Reynolds angry over safe haven bureaucratic bungle

The Member for Townsville and Speaker of the House has attacked his own government for bureaucratic incompetence.
Four years after the Queensland Government committed to a save haven for victims of domestic violence on Palm Island, in the state's north, the Department of Communities has discovered it does not have the legal right to shelter children who arrive unaccompanied.
Mike Reynolds says the situation is a disgrace but it is up to others to make heads roll.
"Oh look I don't even want to get into whether it's an embarrassment, if it's an embarrassment then so be it," he said.
"What we have here is incredibly incompetent advice being given and as member of Parliament who's on the back end of that advice, I'm saying it's not good enough."
