ICAC to investigate council complaint

Posted August 7, 2008 10:46:00

The New South Wales corruption watchdog has been forwarded another complaint about the Mid Western Regional Council.

The complaint relates to alleged leaks of confidential information at the Mudgee-based council.

It was lodged with the State Government by Russell Holden, who is a member of a council working group formed to help develop the Mudgee region's new local environmental plan.

Mr Holden says confidential working party documents, showing proposed areas in the shire to be rezoned, were leaked to members of the public by several councillors.

However, an investigation by the council found the documents were not confidential.

The Premier's Department has now passed Mr Holden's complaint on to the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC).

Mr Holden says he has been advised other people have raised concerns about the alleged breach, and their submissions will also be forwarded to the ICAC.
