New signs aim to limit truck noise

Posted August 7, 2008 14:00:00

Toowoomba residents can look forward to a quieter city with the introduction of a noise reduction initiative for heavy vehicles.

New standardised signs asking truck drivers to limit compression braking have been installed on all major roads into Toowoomba.

Minister for Roads Warren Pitt says feedback from truck drivers and local communities suggests these signs will help to reduce traffic noise.

The strategy is part of a state-wide road traffic noise management code of practice.

Queensland Transport will be responsible for implementing the regulation.
