Trucking group backs B-triple green light

The Australian Trucking Association has welcomed a Victorian Government plan to allow B-triple trucks on the state's roads.
The trucks are up to 36 metres long and weigh up to 82 tonnes, and would boost freight capacity.
Stuart St Claire from the trucking association says the Hume Highway is the only road that could carry the trucks at the moment, but other roads could be modified.
He says strict regulations would be put in place if the trucks were used in Victoria.
"That's what we're working with the Government to see what roads are available to us, to be safe on and that's the key word with all of this, whether it's our business of trucking or the Government's business or the community, it's about having safe vehicles on roads that are suitable for those particular vehicles," he said.
