Call for fast train route to include Nowra

The Shoalhaven's Mayor says any consideration of a very fast train for the Illawarra should include Nowra along the route.
The comments from Greg Watson come after federal MP Joanna Gash wrote to Infastructure Australia chairman Sir Rod Eddington urging him to consider extending the rail line.
Councillor Watson says linking Sydney to Canberra and Melbourne via the south coast would make the route economically viable.
"If the train came down through Sydney, Wollonong, Nowra, maybe out as far as Jervis Bay and then back out to Canberra there would be any amount of people available to travel on that train," he said.
