Track work planned during City2Surf

The New South Wales Opposition says it is illogical that rail track work has been scheduled for this weekend when the City to Surf fun run is on.

Buses will replace trains on the north shore line between Berowra and Wynyard and on the south coast line between Nowra and Wollongong.

There are also warnings of flow-on effects to the western and northern lines, with commuters being advised to allow additional time for their journey.

Opposition Leader Barry O'Farrell says there has not been enough coordination between the Government and transport authorities.

"What is illogical, just as it was proposed in relation to APEC, is to schedule these works when there are major events in this city," he said.

"The City to Surf occurs every year, it's been going for decades, it involves tens of thousands of people. The Iemma Government should be smart enough not to schedule rail works around it."
