New era for Forestry Tasmania

Forestry Tasmania is selling its new Sustainability Charter as a new era in public accountability, but the Greens are concerned it's environmentally friendly in name only.
The charter needs State Government approval before it comes into force.
A draft of the Sustainability Charter was released late last year for public comment, and the final document was presented to the Government today.
The charter would replace seven district forest management plans.
Forestry Tasmania's Hans Drielsma says it balances economic, social and environmental factors.
"We think it's a much more accessible level of communicating to the public our plans," he said.
The Greens Kim Booth says rhetoric is one thing but Forestry Tasmania's actions will speak louder than its words.
"The industry needs to actually start doing things on the ground," he said.
The public can make further submissions to the Energy and Resources Minister David Llewelyn, while he considers his decision.
