Tasmanians face drugs trafficking charges

Posted August 8, 2008 19:03:00

Two Tasmanians have been charged with trafficking ecstasy, as a result of a joint operation between local police and the Australian Federal Police.

Tasmanian Police say a 39-year-old from Little Swanport and a 23-year-old from Dodges Ferry are charged with trafficking at least 1500 ecstasy tablets.

The Little Swanport resident is also facing another charge of trafficking a further 2300 ecstasy tablets.

Two other Tasmanian men were charged last May as part of the same operation.

The matters are separate to yesterday's arrests in connection with an international trafficking network, though it's understood the charges arise from information gleaned during that broader operation.
