Tweed residents get say on youth drug abuse

The Tweed community, in northern New South Wales, is being urged to have its say about young people's use of alcohol and other drugs.
A team funded by the Tweed Shire Council has invited parents and the general public to free forums at Pottsville and Murwillumbah tomorrow.
The project spokeswoman, Shasi Johnston, says feedback from youth workers suggests alcohol abuse is the biggest problem and there are no specialist services for teenagers with substance abuse problems in the Tweed.
"They are not specialist alcohol and drug services that they have in some other shires," she said.
"Youth drug and alcohol issues itself is quite a specialised area and you do need specialised services to deal with them.
"At the moment there is a huge lack of those services."
