151 more jobs to go from NSW mine

Posted August 12, 2008 08:44:00

Another 151 jobs will be lost at CBH Resources' Endeavour Mine at Cobar in western New South Wales, after 200 positions were cut in June.

In a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange, the company said fewer workers were needed under a new operating plan at the mine.

In its quarterly report, the company said the plan involved taking higher-grade ore but lower tonnages to try to maintain the viability of the mine.

The company announced a major corporate and operational restructure at the Endeavour mine in June, cutting about 200 jobs.

Work was also temporarily halted at the Rasp Mine in Broken Hill.
