Sacked mayor to contest election

The man who was the mayor of the Tweed Shire Council when the New South Wales Government sacked it in 2005 is running for office again.

Warren Polglase has indicated he wants to run in next month's local government elections.

He says the allegations of corruption levelled against the pro-development council were never proven and voters were denied democratic representation.

Mr Polglase says his campaign is self-funded and that he wants to be on Tweed council again.

"Well I've put my hat back in the ring because the council I was involved with was in the process of delivering outcomes for the community," he said.

"I believe that some of those issues are still out there that I'd like to see to bring to fruition."
