Murraylands board says business confidence rising

Posted August 13, 2008 13:32:00

The Murraylands Development Board says business confidence in the area is set to keep growing, despite the drought.

The board is sending out questionnaires to 500 businesses in the Murraylands, to form a report on jobs, skills development and business investment growth.

Chief executive Brenton Lewis says previous surveys have shown that economic growth in the Murraylands has been strong for the past 10 years.

Mr Lewis says it is the diversity of business opportunities in the Murraylands that is helping it survive in tough circumstances.

"At the moment we're getting reasonable rain through a fair bit of the region, but not all of it, but for the river irrigators, for the river corridor, the water industry are about to impact upon the industry, it's not pretty," he said.

"So you keep yourself above that, there's so many other good things that are happening, in the Murraylands region currently, it's the diversity that's helping us beat the adversity."
