$405m Moolarben mine on hold

Posted August 14, 2008 11:50:00

Work will be delayed on the Moolarben coal mine near Mudgee until the Court of Appeal makes formal orders.

The New South Wales Court of Appeal has upheld an appeal from the neighbouring Ulan Coal Mine of the development consent granted to Moolarben by the State Government.

In a statement to the stock exchange, the operator of Moolarben, Felix Resources, says the court has not made any orders and its mining releases remain valid until that occurs.

The company had planned to start construction this month, but says it has decided to wait until the court makes its formal orders.

The court has invited both parties to make submissions on appropriate orders within 21 days.

Felix says it has started talks with the State Government to determine the appropriate course of action for the $405 million project.
