Coal ship protesters fined

Posted August 14, 2008 13:12:00

Ten Greenpeace activists charged with vandalising coal ships have appeared in the Cairns Magistrates Court in far north Queensland.

They were given six-month good behaviour bonds and each fined $110, but no convictions were recorded.

Each person also had to pay $275 restitution to police for costs incurred during their arrest.

The activists were detained two weeks ago after painting climate change slogans on ships waiting to dock at Mackay.
