Employment growth continues

There has been a significant drop in the number of long term unemployed people in Tasmania. (ABC News: Giulio Saggin)

Tasmania's Treasurer Michael Aird is pleased with the latest employment figures showing growth in all areas of the state.

Mr Aird says the south experienced employment growth of 3.9 per cent while the northern region recorded 2.7 per cent and the Mersey Lyell region 1.4 per cent.

Data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics also showed a significant drop in the number of long term unemployed people in Tasmania.
