Bourke Indigenous festival underway

Posted August 15, 2008 10:05:00

A three-day celebration of Aboriginal culture begins in Bourke today.

The annual Yaamma Festival begins with a family and grandparents morning at Bourke High and primary schools, and a golf event this afternoon.

Tomorrow a singing talent quest and dance competition will be held, as well as a mixed touch football tournament.

Organisers say the event is for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people and they are urging the whole community to participate.
