A teenager is recovering in hospital after crashing during a police pursuit in inner Sydney last night.

Officers from Redfern Police Station started the chase after detecting a stolen car heading down Cleveland Street about 11:30pm (AEST).

Police say the car crashed into a number of parked vehicles near the intersection of Walker Street in Redfern.

The 17-year-old driver was taken to St Vincent's Hospital with minor injuries.

A number of items have been seized from inside the car and investigations are continuing.
