Workshops reflect strong climate change interest: MP

The Member for Goulburn, Pru Goward, says two climate workshops in Goulburn and in the southern highlands over the weekend shows there is strong support for action on climate change in her electorate.

Ms Goward says in Goulburn, there was a strong focus on water conservation and growing food locally to cut down on transport.

She says the southern highlands' workshop was also keen about growing food locally, but also reducing packaging and improving recycling.

Ms Goward says there was strong objections to the imposition of an income testing for solar power.

"They felt it was so expensive to do anyway and there were people who now wouldn't do it and that was a loss of an industry because of course you have to have expansion and demand to make an industry viable," she said.
