Japan seeks to arrest Sea Shepherd activists

Posted August 18, 2008 12:42:00

Tokyo police have sought arrest warrants on three environmental activists from the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

The warrants are in relation to the activists interference in Japan's whaling activities in the Antarctic Ocean in February last year, investigative sources said.

Two Americans and a Briton from the Sea Shepherd group are suspected of having obstructed Japan's whale hunt through protests such as jamming a ship's propeller with a rope, Kyodo news agency said.

The police will place the three on the international wanted list.
