Canterbury Bulldogs half-back Ben Roberts has been fined $2,000 for assaulting police officers and a security guard outside a Wollongong nightclub earlier this year.

The 23-year-old was handed the fine after he changed his not guilty plea to guilty on four charges.

Wollongong Magistrates Court was told Roberts assaulted police and a security officer after he had earlier been thrown to the ground and kicked outside the nightclub in February.

Magistrate Paul Johnson took into account Roberts's guilty plea and his loss of memory through the earlier assault, and fined him $2,000.
